To configure parental controls, you’ll first need to download and install the Fort Collins Connexion Wi-Fi device on your Android or iOS smartphone.  Follow the instructions to pair your smartphone app with your Connexion Wi-Fi gateway.

Once you’re in the app, the first step to set up parental controls is to create a Person.

To add a person

  1. Tap the People icon in the bottom menu bar.
  2. Tap on the Plus sign.
  3. Tap into the Name field to add the person's name.
  4. Tap on the desired profile avatar to add a profile image.
  5. Tap Save.
  6. You may be prompted to assign devices to this person.  If you already have this person’s devices connected to Wi-Fi, tap Yes, Assign Devices.  If you have not connected their devices to the network, you should select Skip for Now.
    • If you elect to Assign Devices, you’ll be shown a list of all devices known by your Connexion gateway.  Check the box next to each device that you’d like to assign to the person you created.

Content Restrictions for a Person

The Connexion Wi-Fi app allows you to apply content, application, and website restrictions to a user's profile. For

example, you can limit access to social media applications to between 7:00am and 8:00pm for

children in your household. Restrictions applied to a person override global restrictions set in the

Default Restrictions profile.

To configure restrictions for a person

  1. From the Home screen, tap on the ExperienceIQ tile. Alternately, tap the Services icon in the bottom menu bar and tap on ExperienceIQ.
  2. Tap on People Restrictions and tap on the desired profile. Alternately, navigate to the desired person's profile from Home screen or People screen, then tap on the menu icon, and then tap on Manage Restrictions.
  3. Select the toggles to enable or disable the following options:
    • Google Safe Search
    • YouTube Restricted Access Mode
    • Block DNS over HTTPS
    • Block iCloud Private Relay
  4. Tap Content
    • Select an age group from the drop-down menu. Settings update according to the selected age group.
    • You can also select the toggles to enable or disable the options under following categories:
      • Entertainment and Leisure
      • Privacy and Security
      • Sensitive Content
  5. Tap Apps
    • Begin typing the name of the app. The system auto-completes the word you are typing.
    • When a match is found, select the app.
    • After the application is displayed, choose whether you want to block the app, always allow, or allow for a specific amount of time. To restrict access to a certain length of time, type in the amount of time allowed (in hours and minutes).
    • Continue adding additional applications until done.
    • Tap the close icon to return to the Network Restrictions screen.
  6. Tap Websites
    • Begin typing the name of the website you wish to block.
    • Tap Add when complete. The new site appears in the list of restricted websites.
    • Tap Block or Always allow to filter this specific website.
    • Tap the close icon to return to the Network Restrictions screen.

*Not all content restriction categories raise an alert. The Connexion Wi-Fi app only alerts for the following

categories:

  • Pornography & Nudity
  • Gambling
  • Alcohol & Abused Drugs
  • Illegal & Criminal
  • Violence
  • Online Games
  • VPN & Proxies
